Paper Airplane Challenge

Above, 5th graders are preparing to throw their airplanes.

The goal was to make a paper airplane that could fly across the gym.

James came the closest to that goal with a flight of 12.8 meters. That's roughly 80% of the distance across the gym, he estimates. Congratulations, James!

Ms. Lazenby is helping the 5th graders brainstorm and write the first draft of their script to their  Revolutionary War play...

And, a special "thank you" to Becky Vardell for organizing our after-debate Valentine's Day party!
And to Heather Pettis, Joanne Coles, and to all of you who donated time, effort and scrumptious snacks!

Thank you!

Have a great week!

2nd of 4 "Forces of Flight" Experiments

5th Graders used a plastic bag and a clothespin to demonstrate the force of Drag - "air resistance that tends to slow the forward movement of an airplane due to the collisions of the aircraft with air molecules."

January's North Mill Pond Visit

On the way there...
Searching for animal tracks...
A nice example of a print rarely seen in these parts. I believe the scientific name for this species is...large dog.
Everyone sketching their sites.
One last look before it's time to return to school...
