Paper Airplane Challenge

Each 5th grader is challenged with building a paper airplane that will fly the length of the gym (below are their first attempts). They are studying four basic principals of flight (thrust, drag, lift and weight) to help them design and redesign their planes for maximum distance. We'll keep you posted!

Ms. Cole Cookie Champions

In slight contrast to what we are learning in our study of healthy nutrition, when our 5th graders finish their quick math facts assessments (there are about 36 assessments, each completed in under two minutes), then they get a very big bag of delicious homemade chocolate chip cookies! Ms. Cole (an all-around-classroom-helper-extraordinare) bakes all the batches of cookies herself. I can vouch for the amazing deliciousness of them as one or two may have found their way onto my plate now and again.

Congratulations Emily and Grace and Morgan for being our cookie champions in this latest round. Don't forget to share those with your families... and keep up the great math fact power!
